San
The San, of the Kalahari Desert, were hunter gatherers. They only traveled in small bands of family tribes. They were the first hunter-gatherers in South Africa and they lived there before the arrival of the Bantu. The men hunted cattle and the women and children gathered berries/roots. The San only had stone weapons because they had no knowledge of iron or bronze. The men of this tribe only hunted with bow and arrows. The San came in contact with the Bantu. In fear of losing their land to the foreigners, they battled them. The Bantu was advanced compared to the San and had more knowledge of iron, the San left after they were defeated.
The San lived in between the Namib Desert and the Kalahari Desert. They were located in modern day Namibia. The people of Namibia followed in their ancestor´s footsteps when it comes to food. They export livestock, grapes, and other food. Although the San weren´t truly advanced in weaponry, Namibia has a big Defense Force to protect them. The San, who still live their nomadic lives, show no sign or knowledge of government. However, Namibia is like most countries around it, a republic. As the San continue their nomadic lifestyle, Namibia has moved forward while bringing back things of the past.

The Bushmen of the Kalahari or the San are showed in this picture. This shows their unadvanced weapons as compared to other civilizations around at their time. These weapons are what they used to hunt their livestock
