Bantu speaking-people

The Bantu speaking people lived in modern day southern-eastern Nigeria. The Bantu speaking people weren't family but a group of people who spoke the same language .They were nomadic herders and farmers. The Bantu used a new type of farming called slash and burn. This method is when the tree is cut and burned. The ashes are then used to fertilize the land. After, every year or so, the Bantu moved from place to place sharing their skill of iron-working. As they moved, they came in contact with other tribes, cultures, and customs.   The Bantu moved along the Congo River and farmed along the riverbanks. As they moved, they came in contact with the BaMbuti and San.

They moved eastward into savannas and adapted techiniques for raising cattle. When they moved eastward, they came in contact with travelers from Southwest Asia and the Arabian Pennisula. These travelers taught the Bantu to cultivate crops. The Bantu and the travelers created Swahilli, a language that combines Bantu and Arabic. The Bantu continue to move because they had little land. While moving, they searched for iron ore and hardwood forests to make smelting furnaces. They spread technology of iron, copper, and bronze.

Before the Bantu started migration, they lived in a country now known as Nigeria. When they left Nigeria, they went to influence many other civilizations. But this has made Nigeria develop new culture despite their Bantu roots. Nigeria's ethnic groups are very mixed as other tribes settled after the departure of the Bantu. Nigeria exports cocoa, cotton, and other valuables. As the Bantu herded animals, Nigeria also exports their surplus animals. English is their offical language despite all the tribes that inhabit the land. Nigeria improved over the years, as the Bantu migrated spreading ideas.

This picture shows the migration of the Bantu speaking people and how they interacted with other tribes like the BaMbuti and the San.
