Masai

The Masai tribe of South Kenya and Tanzania, were unlike the other civilizations. The Masai weren't hunter gatherers or farmers but pastorialists. The definition of pastorialists is herders. They were nomadic so herding contributed to their lifestyle. The Masai's nomadic lifestyle helped them adapt themselves and animals. As they traveled the Masai learned to domesticate animals and raised a variety of animals for food.

This picture shows the Masai in their natural habit, the outdoors. They are dancing and having fun in their everyday lives. Although their clothes look outdated, they continue to embrace their culture.

The Masai, today, are still nomads in modern day Kenya and Tanzania. Kenya is uninfluenced by their herder ancestors. Kenya focuses on agriculture as they export coffee, corn, and other foods. Tanzania, however, picked up on a trait or two of their ancestors. They export cattle along with agriculture such as coffee, tobacco, and other practical foods for their climate. Both Kenya and Tanzania's government are Republics. The Masai show no offical government as they live their nomadic lives.
